It is no secret that the Coronavirus-19 pandemic has challenged many
industries and forced institutions to compromise on taboo topics. For example,
working from home became widespread in the past year, and many organizations
are reforming idea’s around workspace (Berman & Riedel, 2021). One of the
emerging trends during this time is the adoption of remote tools for working
and education. The blending of machines and humanity is as old as
inventiveness. The recent crisis created a situation that accelerated the
adoption of computing technologies to support everything from education to
commerce (Sharma, 2020).
An article by Kristen Eshleman in Emerging Technologies and Trends
discusses how education continued despite school closures and commerce
persisted after shuttering offices (Eshleman, 2020). The rapid adoption of
communication tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google School helped
immeasurably during transitions from brick and mortar locations to
teleconference platforms.
Some organizations, such as Amazon, achieve phenomenal success and saw
enormous growths (Kim, 2021). However, some institutions struggled with the
transition. The education of school-aged children generated many conversations
that report a decline in the quality of learning in the absence of teacher
guidance (Choiniere, 2021). On the surface, the opportunity to work, shop, and
learn from the home seems ideal, but problems persist. One way to address these
concerns is with machine learning algorithms. For example, Ramsey describes the
use of artificial intelligence to identify obstacles contributing to poor
student engagement and success (Ramsey, 2020).
There are many emerging trends in the computing world, and the recent
pandemic has accelerated the adoption of those technologies. Organizations
rapidly adopted remote working and learning climates that lead to the
development of new products and behaviors.
